Holter Monitoring
Holter monitoring is an essential non-invasive cardiac diagnostic investigation offered at Moolchand Hospital, the best heart hospital in Delhi. Named after its inventor Dr. Norman Holter, a Holter monitor is a small, portable, battery-operated electrocardiogram (ECG) device that continuously records the electrical activity of the heart over an extended period — typically 24–48 hours, though extended monitors recording for 7–14 days or even longer are available for infrequent symptoms.
A standard 12-lead resting ECG records only 10–30 seconds of cardiac electrical activity, making it unable to capture intermittent or paroxysmal arrhythmias that occur unpredictably. Holter monitoring solves this limitation by providing a continuous, long-duration recording during the patient's normal daily activities — including sleep, exercise, and routine tasks — allowing the cardiologist to correlate the patient's symptoms with simultaneous cardiac rhythm changes.
Holter monitoring is indicated for patients experiencing palpitations, unexplained dizziness or presyncope, episodes of syncope (fainting), shortness of breath, or chest discomfort that is episodic. It is also used to assess the effectiveness of antiarrhythmic medications, evaluate heart rate variability (HRV), monitor pacemaker function, detect silent myocardial ischemia, and assess post-myocardial infarction arrhythmic risk.
The device consists of electrodes attached to the chest connected to a small recording unit worn on a belt or shoulder strap. Patients are asked to maintain a symptom diary noting the time and nature of any symptoms experienced during the recording period. The recorded data is then analyzed by a cardiologist using specialized software to identify arrhythmias, conduction abnormalities, and ST segment changes.
At Moolchand Hospital in Lajpat Nagar Delhi, our cardiologists and heart specialists provide comprehensive Holter analysis and interpretation, integrated with clinical assessment to guide accurate diagnosis and appropriate management of cardiac rhythm disorders.
Our team of globally acclaimed super specialists has pioneered several holter monitoring surgeries.

Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) ablation
SVT ablation is a minimally invasive catheter-based electrophysiology procedure that permanently cures supraventricular tachycardia by identifying and destroying the abnormal electrical pathway or focus causing rapid heart rhythms, eliminating the need for long-term antiarrhythmic medications.
