Aggressive treatment should be initiated as quickly as possible depending on the severity of the hypercalcemia. On the whole, cancer patients are at increased risk of a wide variation of medical emergencies, either by the effect of the tumor itself or by the antineoplastic treatment. The recognition of these emergencies by clinicians as well as the knowledge of their treatment is critical.
