Teeth Bleaching (Whitening)
Professional teeth bleaching (whitening) is one of the most popular and immediately gratifying cosmetic dental treatments offered at Moolchand Hospital, Delhi. The procedure uses clinically approved hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide bleaching agents to penetrate the enamel and break down deep-seated pigment molecules, resulting in visibly whiter, brighter teeth.
Tooth discolouration can be extrinsic (surface staining from tea, coffee, tobacco, or red wine) or intrinsic (deeper discolouration from ageing, tetracycline antibiotic use during tooth development, fluorosis, or trauma). Professional bleaching is most effective for extrinsic and age-related intrinsic staining, while deeply intrinsic stains may require veneers or crowns for optimal results.
At Moolchand Hospital in Lajpat Nagar, we offer in-office power bleaching using a high-concentration peroxide gel activated by a specialised light source, achieving several shades of whitening in a single 60–90 minute appointment. Take-home whitening kits with custom-fitted trays are also available for gradual whitening at the patient's convenience.
Before treatment, a thorough dental examination is conducted to ensure the gums and teeth are healthy, that existing restorations are evaluated (as they do not respond to bleaching), and that patient expectations are appropriately managed. The gum tissues are protected during the procedure with a barrier gel.
