Breast Abscess Drainage
Breast abscess drainage, also known as incision and drainage (I&D), is a commonly performed minor surgical procedure used to treat localized collections of pus within the breast. These abscesses typically occur due to bacterial infection and are often associated with mastitis, especially in lactating women, though they can also develop in non-lactating individuals.
At Moolchand Hospital, the procedure is performed by experienced general surgeons under sterile conditions to ensure safe and effective treatment. Depending on the size and location of the abscess, drainage may be done using needle aspiration or a small incision to completely evacuate the infected material.
This procedure provides immediate relief from pain, swelling, and discomfort while preventing further spread of infection. Antibiotics are usually prescribed alongside the procedure to ensure complete healing and reduce the risk of recurrence.
